The correspondent from "Vydomo" visited autumnal Zelenodolsk, which captivates with its pristine beauty and aura, making it hard to believe that in 2022 the enemy nearly obliterated it.

The city is located close to the border with Kherson region. At the beginning of the war, the occupiers shelled it almost every day and night for over six months with various types of weaponry. As a result of the Russian aggression, 70% of the buildings were damaged. Craters from Russian shells surrounded the area, and homes were riddled with fragments of munitions.

However, after the Armed Forces of Ukraine pushed the enemy back, Zelenodolsk began to rise from the ashes and rebuild, with the efforts of the entire community.

Strolling through the city, it’s hard to believe that it was once so hotly contested. Nothing now reminds one of those terrifying times when people were afraid to leave their homes. They prayed for their loved ones, but at the first opportunity, they helped each other. This allowed them to tame their fear and mobilize their inner resources.

Zelenodolsk enchants with its tranquility and friendliness. Life buzzes in the city. People greet one another, creating the impression that they have learned to savor every moment. They appreciate the breath of the wind, the sun's glow, the silence, and the laughter of children.

The central street, Sviatkova, which was scarred by enemy shells, has now been completely revitalized. Young maples, colorful houses, and incredibly beautiful flowers lift spirits in any weather.

The famous Zelenodolsk Park, known throughout the country, has also been restored. Neat flowerbeds with winter plants delight the eye. Perennial trees reach for the sky, seemingly shielding the area from all misfortunes and adversities. Meanwhile, children play on the playground, while their parents simply enjoy the fresh air.

As you walk along the central alley of the park, with the rustle of yellowing leaves underfoot, you arrive at the neat embankment of the Zelenodolsk Reservoir, where an impressive view of the water opens up.

In this city, one can feel the fusion of different elements: the earth behind, the water ahead, and the endless sky above.

The sound of waves, white sand, and a gentle breeze – all soothe and allow for introspection, providing a respite from the gray routine and troubles.

One can admire not only the scenery but also the white swans that have chosen Zelenodolsk as their home for themselves and their feathered families.

In summary, the small city of Zelenodolsk, with its 12,000 residents, leaves behind very warm and even somewhat mysterious impressions.

One desires to return to this city, and not just once.

After a walk, there remains a feeling of inner fulfillment, peace, and a surge of energy.

Zelenodolsk beautifully exemplifies the strength of spirit and resilience of the Ukrainian people, their thirst for life, and their belief in a better future that can be crafted with their own hands.
