The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, announced his willingness to sit at the negotiating table with Kremlin leader Putin as part of a peace summit.

During a lengthy interview, British journalist Piers Morgan asked the Ukrainian leader how he would feel sitting across from Putin at a potential peace summit. He responded that he would do so for the sake of achieving peace:

"If this is the only way we can bring peace to Ukrainians and save lives, we will certainly go for it. Regardless of my feelings towards him. I will not be kind to him. I consider him an enemy. And I believe he sees me as an enemy as well."

The president is also confident that Ukraine is ready to "move towards a diplomatic path." "If people believe we should pursue a diplomatic route, and I believe we are ready, then we will talk to Putin."

Negotiations with Russia

Recall that even before the inauguration, Trump met in Paris with French President Emmanuel Macron and Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky. Subsequently, he reported that Kyiv wants a ceasefire and an end to the war.

Currently, the new American administration is negotiating with various parties to end the war. At the same time, Putin has already stated that he does not consider Zelensky a legitimate president of Ukraine.
