At the negotiations for ending the war in Ukraine, not only the USA, Ukrainians, and Russians should be present, but also representatives from the European Union. This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with The Associated Press.

According to Zelensky, during his first phone call with Trump amid the presidential campaign, they agreed that if Trump won, they would meet to discuss the steps necessary to end the war. However, the planned visit of Trump's envoy to Ukraine, K.T. Kellogg, was postponed "for legal reasons."

"I believe that, first and foremost, we (should) have a meeting with him, and that is important. And, by the way, that is what everyone in Europe wants," Zelensky said.

After the conversation with Trump, the president noted that it is essential to "move to some format of dialogue with the Russians":

"And I would like to see the United States of America, Ukraine, and the Russians at the negotiation table... And, frankly, the voice of the European Union should also be there. I think that would be fair and effective. But how this will turn out? I don’t know."

Zelensky also warned against allowing Putin to take "control" of the war.

Negotiations to End the War in Ukraine

As previously reported by the media, there are growing concerns in Europe that the USA will develop an agreement to end the war in Ukraine that will be disadvantageous for Kyiv and where EU countries will be used merely for post-war funding and as guarantors.

Additionally, President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that excluding Ukraine from negotiations between the USA and Russia regarding the war would be "very dangerous."
