This year should yield the desired results for Ukraine in negotiations regarding membership in the European Union. This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in his video address, highlighting that some details of the collaboration with the EU were discussed today concerning the negotiation process.

"We had the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, officials, and the Office team present. This year must be particularly productive for negotiations on Ukraine's EU membership, as it is crucial for Ukraine and, consequently, for the security of all of Europe," he emphasized.

The head of state added that this year the presidency in the EU will initially be held by Poland, followed by Denmark in the second half of the year.

"Our partners are very responsible. On the Ukrainian side, we will provide everything necessary to take the right steps," Zelensky noted.

Prospects for Ukraine's NATO Membership

As reported by UNIAN, Zelensky previously noted that Ukraine might consider a scenario of joining NATO in exchange for relinquishing the territories occupied by Russia. However, our country would only agree to this under certain conditions.

"Legally, an invitation to NATO is being extended to Ukraine, and we do not recognize all other territories of Ukraine, but NATO can operate in the part that is under Ukraine's control - this can be negotiated. I am confident," said Zelensky.

He clarified that such a scenario is possible only if Ukraine sees a diplomatic way to end the war.
