The United States has earned billions in revenue from the war in Ukraine and gained invaluable combat experience, stated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. According to him, American companies have secured arms contracts at the highest prices seen in the last 50 years due to the immense demand triggered by the full-scale war initiated by Russia in Ukraine.
"All European countries have this demand. People are afraid. It's a vast amount of money. American companies have made millions even on licenses because they have offices in Europe. Consequently, this amounts to billions in revenue. And I believe this war has certainly brought that, despite all the negatives," Zelensky said in an interview with British journalist Piers Morgan on Youtube.
Furthermore, the head of state emphasized that technologies developed in Ukraine have also become available to Western countries. The U.S., in particular, has gained experience in modern large-scale ground warfare—not only through intelligence but also from the military personnel using American weapons.
"What American weapons work, what does not work, what is effective. We ourselves developed drones against Russian equipment, energy systems, and military targets that the U.S. did not have," the President of Ukraine noted.
Other statements by Volodymyr Zelensky from the interview
Earlier, UNIAN reported that in the war with the Russian Federation, over 45,000 Ukrainians have died. According to the President of Ukraine, there have been around 390,000 reported injuries. "There are people who were injured but then returned to the front lines and were injured again. So, the number of injuries is higher than the number of injured individuals," the President added.
Additionally, Zelensky commented on his legitimacy and the elections in Ukraine. "Yes, during wartime, there cannot be elections; legislation and the Constitution need to be changed. And there are significant challenges. How will our military vote? How will people in occupied territories vote? How will the eight million Ukrainians abroad due to the war vote?" he emphasized.
