In Dnipro, during the excavation of a burial mound, archaeologists uncovered an ancient artifact – a stone stele from the Eneolithic period. This was reported by "Vidomo" referencing "Public".
"While surveying the mound, we discovered a stone with distinct signs of processing. We documented this. It is a stone that has been given conditional anthropomorphic features. There is a foot here, a hand there, and a head with a neck somewhere else," said history faculty student Kirill.
He informed the staff at the National Historical Museum named after Yavornytsky. They organized an expedition to retrieve the artifact, involving students from various historical faculties across Dnipro.
According to Oksana Rudkovska, a representative from the archaeology department of the historical museum, the stone landmark is dated to the end of the second to the beginning of the third millennium BC. She noted that similar steles were erected around places where people worshipped the gods.
"Five to six thousand years ago, in the steppe, in specially arranged cult sites, people created platforms. Our people go to church, while they visited cultic, sacred places. This was to communicate with the gods," explained the specialist.
The discovered stone stele is set to be studied and restored. An exhibition of stone artifacts is planned to open in the spring.
Currently, the archaeology department of the historical museum holds over a hundred stone exhibits. Some of them were brought from combat zones for temporary storage.
We also reported that a huge "phallic" stone aged 5,000 years was found in Dnipro.
Earlier, during a local history reconnaissance in Dnipro, another unique anthropomorphic stele dating back to the Eneolithic period was discovered.
