A city council meeting took place in Dnipro, where a proposal was made to construct a new residential quarter on Zaporizhzhia Highway; however, no schools or kindergartens were included in the plans. Experts generally criticized the project proposed by architects from Lviv, as reported by "Vідомо" citing Gorod.dp.ua.
The urban planning calculation for the residential complex on Zaporizhzhia Highway, 25, 28, 30 in the area of the former "Flowers of Dnipropetrovsk" state farm, envisions the construction of a residential microdistrict covering 15.4 hectares, consisting of 45 buildings – residential houses ranging from 8 to 18 stories high. The tallest buildings will be situated at the base of the hill, closer to the railway line.
The first point of criticism from specialists was the absence of kindergartens and schools in the project. The designers believe that children can be transported to the nearest educational institutions. Furthermore, the project includes 4,212 apartments, but their layout has also raised discontent.
"This is a mere imitation of normal block development, while in reality, it aims to cram 7-8 thousand residents into an entirely empty area. And what kind of primitive apartment layouts are on the floors? Are you planning to settle Russian prisoners of war here?" noted council member Sergey Filimonov.
Additionally, concerns were raised regarding parking, as the design indicates that the exit from it intersects with pedestrian zones.
"Parking areas are designed on the ground floors of residential buildings, where cars will constantly enter and exit through so-called pedestrian areas. This constant movement of vehicles drastically reduces the quality of life in this complex. Secondly, you plan to build a massive complex on subsiding soils - similar to those in Topole-2, where a large-scale landslide occurred. The extensive construction will obstruct natural water drainage. To prevent disasters, a very expensive drainage system will need to be implemented," said architect Igor Saienko.
The project authors will have to address all the comments before it is reconsidered.
