After the war ends, Ukraine will need to invite labor migrants from countries where the standard of living is significantly lower.

This opinion was expressed by Vasily Voskoboynik, president of the All-Ukrainian Association of Companies for International Employment, in an interview with UNIAN. He referenced data from the Ministry of Economy from 2023, which indicates that Ukraine will require approximately 4.5 million additional workers compared to the number of employees recorded at the end of 2021.

The International Organization for Migration and the International Labour Organization estimate that the country will need 8.2 million workers:

"We need to consider countries such as Bangladesh, Nepal, India, countries in North Africa, and Central Asia, which were once part of the USSR. However, just because we want to bring people from there does not mean that these individuals will necessarily want to come to us in such numbers to fill our demographic gaps."

Labor Migration

According to the Verkhovna Rada, there are currently 7.7 million citizens of Ukraine living abroad. Of these, 5.3 million reside in the European Union.

Experts have repeatedly discussed the demographic challenges the country is facing due to the full-scale war. Moreover, after its conclusion, Ukraine will require additional workers.
