Updated 22:41: The number of victims from the Russian strike on the apartment building in Poltava has increased to 10. This was reported by the Poltava Regional Military Administration.

Updated 20:05: Rescue efforts continue in Poltava following the Russian strike. Search operations for people trapped under the rubble are still underway, as reported by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in an evening video address.

"We are working to attract more resources from partners to strengthen the Ukrainian air shield. Protection from shelling is our absolute priority. There is still much to be done, but every partner in the world who helps is a lifesaver," he emphasized.

Updated 20:00: One of the survivors, who was rescued, was trapped under the rubble for nearly four hours. This was shared by the spokesperson of the SES in the Poltava region, Svitlana Rybalko, during an interview on Channel 24:

"The building was essentially destroyed down to the first floor, with half of one of the entrances gone. Since this occurred in the morning at 07:43, people were asleep. They were in their beds. We found the deceased in their beds. It's horrific."

Initially, the strike on the building was reported by the Poltava Regional State Administration without further details.

"The enemy struck Poltava. There is a hit on a residential building. Rescue and emergency services are currently on site," the statement said.

Later, the SES reported that 2 people had died as a result of the attack. Another 7 were injured, including one child. 21 people were rescued.

The entrance from the 1st to the 5th floor was destroyed, a fire broke out, and neighboring houses and 12 vehicles were also damaged.

Morning Rocket Attack

A large-scale air raid alert was declared in Ukraine in the morning due to rocket danger. Reports of strikes were received from Kharkiv and Poltava regions. In particular, in the Poltava region, damage to energy infrastructure was reported in the Myrhorod district.

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported a hit in Kharkiv, preliminarily in the Kholodnohirskyi district, within residential areas. One woman died, and five others were injured.
