Russian Strike on Sudja

On February 1, Russian troops launched an attack on Sudja in the Kursk region. This locality is under the control of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. According to Alexey Dmitrashkovsky, a representative of the Ukrainian Armed Forces commandant's office in Sudja, the army targeted a boarding school, resulting in 95 individuals being trapped under the rubble. The majority are elderly individuals and those unable to move independently.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Russians struck the boarding school with a guided air bomb. Furthermore, it was known in Russia that only civilians were present, as people were preparing for evacuation.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, commenting on the attack, emphasized that the Russians destroyed the building despite the presence of dozens of civilians. He added that Russia had similarly acted in Chechnya, killing civilians in Syria, and continues to target the civilian population of Ukraine.
