Due to delays in military aid supplies from Western partners, Ukraine is facing a shortage of weapons to equip the already mobilized soldiers. This was commented on by Dmitry Litvin, an advisor to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, regarding calls for lowering the conscription age.

"There is no point in hearing calls for Ukraine to reduce the conscription age, supposedly to draft more people, when we see that the previously announced equipment is not arriving on time. Because of these delays, Ukraine lacks weapons to equip the already mobilized soldiers," – wrote him on social media platform X.

According to him, Ukraine's partners have full access to the data and can compare "promises with actual deliveries."

"It is unreasonable to expect Ukraine to compensate for delays in logistics or indecision in supporting young men at the front," Litvin added.

Lowering the conscription age in Ukraine: what preceded it

Reuters, citing an unnamed senior U.S. administration official, reports that Biden is pressuring Ukraine to lower the conscription age to 18 to quickly increase troop numbers for the war against Russia.

According to the AP, allies in Western capitals have also suggested to President Volodymyr Zelensky that Ukraine's issue lies with troop numbers, rather than armaments.
