The city of Toretsk in the Bakhmut district of Donetsk region remains one of the hotspots on Ukraine's military map. Over the years, the Russians have turned it into ruins, destroying everything in their path. Today, it stands as a place of concrete debris.
On the official Facebook page of the "Predator" brigade of the National Police of Ukraine, they showed what the city looks like now. They published a video that captures Toretsk from a bird's-eye view.
"Toretsk is on fire. The Russian army is employing its usual 'scorched earth' tactic. The enemy is intensifying the assaults," reads the caption under the video.
The footage reveals that almost nothing is left of Toretsk. Only the destroyed high-rise buildings, fires, and smoke over the city are visible.
At the end of last year, soldiers from the 42nd brigade demonstrated what the city of Toretsk, destroyed by the Russians, looks like.
"In 2014, around 70,000 people lived a full life in Toretsk… But by December 2024, about one and a half thousand locals refuse to leave the once-glorious city. Such is the current population of Toretsk, which has nearly nothing left after the arrival of the 'liberators,'" the message stated.
Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga published a photograph showing the current state of the city of Toretsk.
In the fall, a video from a bird's-eye view surfaced in one of the public groups, showing what Toretsk looks like.
Toretsk is located on the front line in the Donetsk region. Fighting for this city has been ongoing since the beginning of summer 2024.
According to the words of the head of the Reserve Council of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ivan Timochko, capturing Toretsk would allow the Russians to advance toward Pokrovsk or in the Avdiivka direction, as well as Kramatorsk and Sloviansk, to strengthen their forces in the area of Chasiv Yar.
On January 7 of this year, the Russians were spotted in the northern and northwestern outskirts of Toretsk. This is evidenced by data from DeepState.
Recall that earlier, "Telegraph" reported that the chief sergeant of the UAV strike company of the 109th brigade, Yegor Firsov, talked about how the tactics of the Russian Federation have changed in the Toretsk direction.
