Astrophysicists, who previously warned about a coronal mass ejection (CME) due to a solar flare, are indicating that the sun is preparing for more intense bursts. Meanwhile, on Earth, a moderate magnetic storm of 4 levels is currently ongoing.
The rapidly growing sunspot 3981 has turned towards Earth and is crackling with strong flares. An M8.8-class explosion on Monday, February 3, could have reached X-class levels, which is the highest category, as reported by the space weather research resource Spaceweather.
At the same time, scientists from NOAA estimate that on February 4, there is an 85% probability of M-class flares and a 20% chance of full X-class flares. These could be geo-effective and trigger magnetic storms on Earth.
Additionally, according to data from Meteoagent, which formulates its forecast based on NOAA satellite systems, TESIS, and international meteorological laboratories worldwide, currently, on February 4, a moderate magnetic storm of 4 levels is persisting on our planet. This is also expected to continue on February 5.
However, no fluctuations are anticipated from February 6 to 9.
