The exit of the United States of America from the North Atlantic Alliance would mark the end of this union.

This opinion was expressed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with American podcaster Lex Fridman, who suggested that newly elected President Donald Trump might decide to withdraw from NATO:

"I think this would be very bad for NATO. It would be the end, the demise of NATO. And that is unfortunate because I believe it is a very good Alliance. Perhaps not everything is perfect there due to bureaucracy and funding. But the countries in NATO do not go to war. There is no war on the territory of any of these countries."

Zelensky emphasized that without the United States, security guarantees for Ukraine are not possible, as it is a very powerful country. He also reminded of the U.S. contribution to the victory in World War II.

Security Guarantees for Ukraine

As is known, Kyiv seeks to obtain a series of commitments from Western partner countries that would make new aggression from the Russian Federation against Ukraine impossible.

At the same time, the president has already stated that guarantees from European Union countries will be insufficient, and the United States must be included among them.
