The Ukrainian Defense Forces struck a radar station of the Russian occupiers' S-400 anti-aircraft missile system in the Kursk region, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"On the night of November 24, the missile troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in coordination with other components of the Defense Forces, delivered a group strike on the positions of the anti-aircraft missile division of the 1490th anti-aircraft missile regiment of the 6th Army of the Russian Federation located in the Kursk region. A successful hit on the radar station of the S-400 anti-aircraft missile system was recorded," the message states.
Updated. The defeat of the radar station of the S-400 complex in the Kursk direction was commented on by the head of the Center for Counteracting Disinformation (CPD) under the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC), Andrey Kovalenko:
"Without it, it is blind. This will simplify the work of other means in the Kursk region to strike military targets on enemy territory."
The General Staff noted that this Russian unit was conducting combat operations in the "ground-to-ground" mode, meaning it was targeting stationary ground objects.
"Such shelling primarily affects civilian objects and peaceful residents of settlements in the frontline regions of Ukraine," the message reads.
The General Staff promised to continue the destruction of the enemy and its equipment.
As reported by UNIAN, several such complexes have been destroyed, particularly in Crimea, which is occupied by Russia. In June 2024, the Defense Forces struck the S-400 missile system in the Dzhankoy area, as well as two S-300 divisions near Chornomorsk and Yevpatoria.
Military expert Colonel Vladislav Seleznev noted that the occupiers are playing a kind of "game": Ukrainian military forces are destroying enemy radar systems and launchers of the S-300 and S-400 missile systems in temporarily occupied Crimea, while the Russians are immediately trying to find more such systems and supply them back to the peninsula via the Crimean Bridge.
He mentioned that in June, due to a large-scale operation by the Ukrainian Defense Forces, Ukrainian missile troops turned Russian S-400 and S-300 missile systems, as well as radar systems, into scrap metal using ATACAMS missiles.
