Russian occupiers are conducting an information campaign claiming that they are about to advance not only in the Dnipropetrovsk region but also directly towards Dnipro, states the Chairman of the Reserve Council of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Ivan Timochko.

"I believe this is more of an information campaign than a reflection of the capabilities of the Russian army, because, in reality, combat operations in the southwestern area of Pokrovsk have been ongoing for more than a month, if not over two," he added during a broadcast on "Ukrainian Radio".

Timochko explained that the Russian troops in the Pokrovsk direction are currently tasked with moving from the south towards Pokrovsk and from the east towards the Kramatorsk area, attempting to connect two offensives in the vicinity of the settlements situated between these two cities.

"The objective is more about cutting off logistics leading to Pokrovsk itself. Therefore, they are advancing west of Pokrovsk. To the east of Pokrovsk is the city of Myrnohrad, and the enemy is quite reluctant to wedge between the two cities to avoid getting caught in a serious confrontation," the military official added.

He raises the question of whether the occupiers can shift their forces from other directions to more significantly "reinforce their military presence." According to him, it is currently difficult to determine how many additional forces they can still mobilize. Timochko also believes that capturing Pokrovsk represents more of a political objective for Russia than a military one.

Other news about the war in Ukraine

Previously, UNIAN reported on why North Koreans disappeared from the frontline in the Kursk region. "It is still too early to make a definitive judgment on the withdrawal of troops. But one thing is clear: Kim cannot afford significant losses without facing internal pressure in his country," explained an expert on North Korea.

Additionally, an American legionnaire shared how Ukraine can win the war. In his opinion, if the Ukrainian army can exhaust the enemy forces that the occupiers send "wave after wave," then eventually, this should come to a halt.
