In the midst of winter, an edible giant mushroom was discovered in T. G. Shevchenko Park in Dnipro, as reported by "Vidomo" referencing the Department of Parks and Recreation of DGS.
Park staff indicate that this mushroom is called oyster mushroom.
Oyster mushrooms are quite large and have a convex cap, measuring up to 15 cm in diameter. Mature specimens can reach sizes of 25-30 cm.
This type of mushroom is well adapted to withstand frost and typically fruits from July to December. However, considering the unusually warm winter this year, it is not surprising that oyster mushrooms were spotted in January.
It is noted that oyster mushrooms are easily recognizable by their fan-shaped form.
These mushrooms have a delicate flavor and texture, making them a versatile ingredient in cooking.
Oyster mushrooms can be found in gardens and parks where there is compost, decaying wood, or leaves. They may also appear on wooden structures or old tree stumps.
