Russian terrorists executed five captured servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Pokrovsk direction. This was reported by the Donetsk regional prosecutor's office.

"According to operational data, on November 13, 2024, the occupiers began an assault on the positions of the Defense Forces of Ukraine near the village of Petrovka in the Pokrovsk district. Five servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, having retreated, took shelter in a private house, which was soon surrounded by the enemy. Representatives of the Russian army captured them and, without weapons, forced them to exit their hiding place and lie on the ground. After that, the Russian soldiers shot the defenders with automatic weapons," the statement reads.

It is noted that the killing of prisoners of war constitutes a severe violation of the Geneva Conventions and is classified as a serious international crime. Urgent investigative (search) actions are currently underway to establish all the circumstances of the incident.

Under the procedural guidance of the Donetsk regional prosecutor's office, a pre-trial investigation has been initiated in a criminal proceeding regarding the commission of a war crime that resulted in loss of life (part 2 of article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Meanwhile, the monitoring project DeepState reports that the executed prisoners could have been defending Ukraine as part of the 117th Brigade or been attached to it:

"The monsters shot 5 of our fighters. Preliminary information suggests these guys are from the 117th Brigade or attached to them."

Execution of Ukrainian prisoners of war by the occupiers

On November 20, it became known that on November 10, 2024, during an assault on the fortifications of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near the village of Novodmytrivka in the Pokrovsk district, Russian soldiers captured two Ukrainian fighters. The occupiers forced the prisoners to undress and, under the barrels of their rifles, led them through a forest area where they were shot.

Earlier, Ukrainian ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets stated that Russian terrorists likely shot at least two unarmed Ukrainian prisoners of war at close range in the Kursk region. He sent letters to the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross regarding the war crimes committed by the occupiers.
