The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are engaged in intense battles with the enemy in the western part of the city of Kurakhove in the Donetsk region, so the full control of Russian occupiers over the city is not currently being discussed.
This was stated by Viktor Trehubov, a representative of the Operational-Strategic Group of Troops "Khortytsia," during a broadcast of the information telethon. He reminded that information about urban battles was included in the latest OSUV report. Any changes will be communicated separately:
"The defense in the city continues. Yes, it is fierce. Yes, it is currently taking place in the western part of the city. But our units are still there and are still fighting."
According to the spokesperson, near Pokrovsk, the Russians are attempting to avoid frontal attacks and are trying to encircle the city "with pincers." The occupiers are not succeeding, although they are attempting to infiltrate.
"If we talk about truly significant movements, about something that could directly threaten the city in the near future, we cannot say that yet. Although they are trying to bypass in one way or another and cling to individual houses in certain settlements," noted Trehubov.
He added that for at least four weeks, the Pokrovsk direction has remained one of the hottest. Russian troops are constantly trying to apply pressure, and the list of settlements they are storming is quite long.
"Yes, they are trying to (apply pressure, - UNIAN), but so far they have not succeeded in achieving any success that would directly threaten Pokrovsk itself," emphasized the spokesperson.
Situation on the Front
Earlier, the Center for the Study of Occupation reported that the occupiers are redeploying up to 10,000 soldiers from reserves to the Kurakhove and Pokrovsk directions.
According to military-political analyst Alexander Kovalenko, the complete capture of Kurakhove by the enemy is only a matter of time. The expert stated that Russian occupiers continue to apply pressure in the Kurakhove bulge and have also expanded their control zone around the village of Shevchenko.
In OSUV "Khortytsia," it was reported that the Russians are trying to weaken the logistics of the AFU in the Pokrovsk area, to force the defenders to leave the city.
