The final arms package for Ukraine from President Joe Biden's administration will amount to $500 million. This was reported by Voice of America correspondent Carla Babb from Ramstein Air Base.
According to her, the announcement regarding the new support package for Ukraine will be made on Thursday, January 9.
It is worth noting that approximately $3.8 billion for the PDA program will remain unused, despite the White House's promises to spend the entire amount by the end of President Biden's term. These funds will be transferred to Donald Trump's administration following his inauguration on January 20, as stated by the Pentagon.
As reported by Voice of America, U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has already arrived in Germany to lead the Ukraine Defense Contact Group one last time before leaving his position.
During this meeting, the U.S. is expected to announce the final military aid package to Kyiv during the Biden administration.
Pentagon officials stated that the U.S. military package for Ukraine will be "substantial," but it will not cover the entire $4.3 billion remaining in the budget for aid to Ukraine under the presidential powers approved by Congress last April.
