High-ranking Russian security officials and military leaders are urging the ruler of Russia, Vladimir Putin, to avoid negotiations aimed at ending the war and to continue escalating military actions.

This is stated in a report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW). Analysts note that Russian security forces deem it necessary to intensify military operations in Ukraine rather than agree to negotiations, despite significant losses.

"By December 2024, the average daily advance of Russian troops slowed to about nine square kilometers after three months of territorial gains and considerable personnel losses in September, October, and November. At the same time, Russian military command may be less willing than Vladimir Putin to endure such high losses if the pace of advancement continues to decline," ISW noted.

Analysts highlighted that Russian security services and military officials are not prepared to end the war due to losses. They are urging Putin to ramp up military efforts, suggesting partial mobilizations to replenish the battlefield with personnel and equipment.

Ending the War in Ukraine - Negotiations

The newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Russia's war against Ukraine may escalate further. However, he hopes it can be concluded within six months.

He also mentioned that there is an understanding in the West that Ukraine cannot join NATO. The Republican added that he himself holds this position.

Currently, preparations are underway for a meeting between the newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian dictator Putin.
