Ukraine has managed to defend its independence and is currently closer to peace than it has been at any point during the past three years of full-scale war, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Moreover, he stated that Ukrainians continue to fight, live, and do everything possible to bring about peace.

"We are closer to this than ever during these three years of war. We have defended our state, independence, country, capital, and many different cities and villages. Unfortunately, we have lost many people. I am very proud of our heroic individuals. Who could have imagined all this? No one," Zelensky remarked in an interview with Associated Press.

The President of Ukraine also emphasized that no one could have anticipated all the consequences of the full-scale war. It is precisely for this reason that "we must do everything" to stabilize life in Ukraine.

"And to ensure peace for all Ukrainians. I believe that this is the most important thing," the head of state concluded.

Other Statements by Volodymyr Zelensky

Earlier, UNIAN reported that peacekeeping forces cannot serve as the sole guarantee of security for Ukraine, according to Zelensky. "I stated in the presence of two leaders that we are interested in this as part of a security guarantee. But that is not enough," he said.

Additionally, Zelensky responded to who he wants to see at the negotiating table to end the war. "And I would like to see the United States of America, Ukraine, and the Russians at the negotiating table... And, frankly, the voice of the European Union should also be there," Zelensky noted.
