Ukrainian drones attacked the Astrakhan gas processing plant in Russia. The facility caught fire, with flames visible for several kilometers.
The attack was initially reported by Russian sources, and later the information was confirmed by Andrey Kovalenko, head of the Center for Counteracting Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council.
"This is one of the key energy facilities in the Russian Federation, responsible for processing gas condensate and producing gasoline, diesel fuel, and more," Kovalenko noted.
According to him, the plant impacts Russia's military-industrial complex, as the fuel and energy sector is the primary source of funding for the defense sphere.
Attacks on Russian Oil Refineries
Ukraine is systematically targeting oil refining facilities within Russian territory. Recently, drone attacks on refineries and oil depots have become even more frequent.
Just last Friday, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported a successful strike on the “LUKOIL-Volgogradneftepererabotka” refinery, which ranks among the top 10 largest in Russia.
