Germany will transfer two more IRIS-T air defense missile systems of short and medium range to Ukraine by the end of this year.
This was announced during a visit to Kyiv by Christian Freuding, head of the special staff for Ukraine at the German Ministry of Defense, as reported by European Truth. The major general reminded that in recent days, Berlin has sent artillery howitzers, tanks, and Marder infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine:
"The next IRIS-T SLM and SLS systems are expected to arrive in Ukraine within the coming days and weeks, before Christmas. However, our support will continue even after Christmas, and after January 1, and after January 21, and after February 23 - the date proposed in Germany for federal elections."
Assistance from Germany
As reported by UNIAN, last week Berlin announced a new defense package for Ukraine. This package includes self-propelled howitzers Panzerhaubitzen, demining tanks, armored vehicles, drones, ammunition, and other weapons.
It is stated that this year the Federal Republic of Germany has allocated approximately 7.1 billion euros for support. Today, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius stated that partners and allies from Europe plan to enhance assistance to Kyiv.
