The German Minister of Defense Boris Pistorius promised that European partners would enhance military support for Ukraine.
According to Reuters, this statement was made following his meeting with colleagues from France, the United Kingdom, Italy, and Poland in Berlin. The ministers discussed strengthening security in Europe after the newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump returns to the White House.
Pistorius added that in January, NATO's mission in Wiesbaden will take on the coordination of Western military support for Ukraine. "Our goal should be to empower Ukraine to act from a position of strength," he stated.
Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasized that European countries need to act more cohesively and "strive for more to be a good partner for the U.S.":
"We must clearly state today - Europe needs to increase its efforts when it comes to assisting Ukraine, but first and foremost, regarding its own security. Without increased spending, without an awareness in every European society of the times we live in, all of this is for nothing."
U.S. Elections
It should be noted that former American leader Donald Trump won the presidential elections in the United States. His inauguration is scheduled for January 20, 2025.
European politicians started preparing for his victory in advance. According to media reports, they were developing scenarios to avoid a trade war and prepare for various security situations.
