In December, the Earth continues to suffer from strong magnetic storms. However, our planet has been experiencing this for five consecutive days now.
This information was published on the website of Meteoagent, which generates online forecasts using data from NOAA, TESIS, and international scientific meteorological laboratories worldwide. Experts reported on the level of geomagnetic activity on December 18.
Thus, on Thursday, December 18, the prolonged magnetic storm persists. It has been ongoing for five days straight, with a K-index of 5.
Note: A K-index of 5 indicates red-level storms. These storms can disrupt communication systems: mobile and radio communications, satellites, and GPRS.
According to forecasts, no more strong magnetic storms are expected in December starting from December 19.
However, it should be noted that the situation could change at any moment. Typically, solar flare forecasts are updated online as data about solar activity comes in, usually every 10 minutes.
A magnetic storm is a disturbance in the Earth's geomagnetic field that can last from several hours to several days. During these times, weather-sensitive individuals may experience worsening health, and animals may even change their behavior. Additionally, powerful magnetic storms can disable electronic equipment.
Let us remind you that earlier, "Telegraf" reported on what the weather will be like in Ukraine on December 19. Meteorologists promise unpleasant surprises.
