Egypt continues to amaze with its discoveries. The joint Egyptian-Spanish archaeological mission at the Al-Bahnas site has uncovered tombs where the mummies had golden tongues.

In total, a significant number of valuable burial artifacts have been found, reports the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities. Among the greatest discoveries are 13 golden tongues, the first of their kind found in this region, and golden nails symbolizing preparations for the afterlife.

Researchers uncovered a series of tombs adorned with colorful inscriptions and ritual scenes. One tomb, accessed through a rectangular stone burial shaft, featured a central hall with three chambers. These chambers contained dozens of mummies arranged meticulously, indicating a practice of communal burial.

Another burial shaft led to similarly decorated chambers, one of which belonged to an individual identified as "Wen Nefer." In this tomb, the walls were covered with intricate paintings depicting Wen Nefer and his family making offerings to Anubis, Osiris, Horus, and other gods. One mummy in the chamber was covered with a thin layer of gold, symbolizing divine protection.

Among the rare finds were also a scarab heart and 29 amulets, including combined attributes of several gods. For the ancient Egyptians, gold was a divine alloy. The golden tongues were needed for communication in the afterlife.

Previously, the "Telegraph" reported that in Germany, a Christian prayer over 1800 years old was excavated. This discovery sheds light on the spread of Christianity in the Roman Empire.
