A four-point magnetic storm, which has been affecting Earth for the third consecutive day, shows no signs of weakening. Astronomers, in turn, are warning of an increased likelihood of solar flares.
The Sun has been quiet for more than a week, but that is about to change. Two new sunspots (3959 and 3962) possess unstable delta-class magnetic fields, which carry the potential energy for X-class solar flares, as reported by scientists from the Spaceweather research site.
"Don't be surprised if one of them erupts by the end of the week," the message emphasized.
As stated in the Meteoagent forecast, which is based on satellite systems from NOAA, TESIS, and international meteorological laboratories worldwide, currently, on January 16, a moderate magnetic storm of 4 points is ongoing on Earth. Its intensity is expected to decrease by January 17.
Low solar activity is anticipated to persist until the end of the current week.
Let’s recall that earlier "Telegraph" reported on whether frosts will arrive in the largest cities of Ukraine in the near future.
