The "Gaganyaan" spacecraft, which will soon transport Indian astronauts into space and bring them back to Earth, has been equipped with essential technologies required for this mission. India aims to ensure all necessary preparations for manned space flights independently of other countries, reports Space.

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) announced that the outfitting of the crewed spacecraft with the necessary technologies is nearly complete. This includes the liquid propulsion system, which is responsible for generating the thrust needed to control the orientation of the spacecraft and its flight trajectory. This system ensures safe navigation of the spacecraft during its descent to Earth until the parachute is deployed for a safe landing. Now, "Gaganyaan" will be fitted with the electronics required for communication, navigation, and power management.

After these tasks are completed, the spacecraft will be sent to the launch site, where it will await its launch into orbit. Before India sends one or two astronauts to low Earth orbit for the first time in its history, approximately in 2026, the country plans to conduct at least four unmanned test flights. The first test flight, which may take place as early as February, will feature a humanoid robot aboard the "Gaganyaan" spacecraft.

One of the Indian astronauts who will be flying on the "Gaganyaan" for the first time is currently training in the USA and is scheduled to fly to the International Space Station (ISS) in April.

The spacecraft will be launched into orbit by the Indian launch vehicle LVM3. It will also be responsible for delivering the astronauts aboard this spacecraft into orbit. ISRO stated that work is currently underway to enhance the rocket engine.

As of now, only the USA, Russia, and China have the capability to independently launch humans into space. Therefore, India also aspires to become a nation that can achieve this.

India also plans to build its own space station by 2035 and send its astronauts to the Moon by 2040.
