The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that he believes the relationship with U.S. President Donald Trump can still be salvaged, even after their disagreement in the Oval Office.

This was reported by the Ukrainian leader to journalists following the Ukraine summit in London, according to Reuters.

"As for saving the relationship (with Trump - UNIAN), I believe our relationship will continue," he said.

Zelensky emphasized in his conversation with journalists that negotiations should continue behind closed doors.

"I don't think it's right for such discussions to be completely open... The format of what happened, I don't think it brought anything positive or additional for us as partners," he added.

Moreover, Zelensky told journalists that the U.S. is unlikely to stop aiding Ukraine, as Trump does not wish to assist the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. Nevertheless, he assured that he remains ready for any challenges that may arise.

Speaking about the mineral resources deal, the President of Ukraine stated that he is still prepared to sign this agreement with the U.S. He believes Washington is also ready for this.

The agency recalled that during Zelensky's visit to the White House, a conflict arose between him, Trump, and U.S. Vice President JD Vance, which led to the meeting concluding prematurely. At that time, the U.S. President accused the Ukrainian leader of not showing enough gratitude for the American assistance provided and questioned Washington's support for Ukraine.
