President Vladimir Zelensky announced that Ukraine is ready to assist the Slovak people in ensuring energy stability.

As reported by a UNIAN correspondent, these remarks were made during his meeting with a delegation of the Slovak opposition and the leader of the Social Liberals "Progressive Slovakia," Michal Šimečka:

"We are ready to discuss energy security. I understand that this topic is sensitive. We are very open. We are prepared to help the Slovak people with energy stability and, of course, security."

Furthermore, the president emphasized that it is crucial for Kyiv to hear from the Slovak nation that it will support the Ukrainian people on their path to the European Union and NATO.

Šimečka expressed gratitude to Ukrainians for their bravery, heroism, and self-sacrifice. According to him, the Slovak people understand that this is about freedom, sovereignty, and security not only for Ukraine but for Europe as well. He added that many in his country value this and pray for Ukraine:

"It is essential for our two nations, economies, and political partnership that Ukraine becomes part of the EU. This will greatly benefit Slovakia economically and in other sectors. More importantly, Ukraine is Europe. I can speak on behalf of my political party, members of parliament, and our voters that we will do everything to support Ukraine in its quest for freedom and rightful place in the EU," he stated.

Conflict with Fico

As is known, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico actively criticizes Ukraine and President Vladimir Zelensky for the decision to halt the transit of Russian gas through its territory.

He stated that this decision would result in Slovakia losing about half a billion euros in revenue from gas transportation fees. He also threatened Kyiv with retaliatory measures.
