Fog or smog? A thick haze envelops Kyiv (video).

A thick fog enveloped the capital of Ukraine on the morning of January 30. The city was literally shrouded in an impenetrable veil.

Local social media channels report this, sharing relevant videos. In one of these videos, it’s visible that morning Kyiv is completely immersed in fog, through which the headlights of cars struggle to shine.

Drivers are urged to be cautious behind the wheel, as visibility is severely limited in some areas. Pedestrians are also advised to be careful, as they are just as much a part of the traffic as drivers.

However, there are some commentators who doubt that this is fog. They suggest that it might be smoke. Some even say there is a smell of burning.

At the same time, the Kyiv City State Administration informs that "as of 08:00 on January 30, the level of air pollution in the right bank is low, while in the left bank – medium. The radiation background across the city is normal".

According to information from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, on Wednesday, January 30, further warming is expected in Kyiv. Meteorologists predict variable cloudiness with no precipitation. Fog may form in the city and region during the night and morning hours. A southern wind is prevailing at a speed of 3-8 meters per second.

As for the temperature regime, the air in the capital is expected to warm up to +10 degrees Celsius during the day.
