The newly elected President of the United States Donald Trump announced that he will not invite Nikki Haley and Mike Pompeo to his new administration.
"I will not be inviting former ambassador [to the United Nations] Nikki Haley or former Secretary of State [and Director of the Central Intelligence Agency] Mike Pompeo to join the Trump administration, which is currently being formed," he wrote on his social media page Truth.
According to the politician, he greatly appreciated his previous work with them and values it highly. Trump also thanked them for their service to the country.
What Pompeo and Haley are known for
Before the elections, Mike Pompeo, in his column for the WSJ, proposed to significantly increase support for Ukraine to force Russia to end the war. Among other things, he discussed real sanctions against Russia, the creation of a $500 billion "lend-lease" program for weapons for Ukraine, lifting all restrictions on obtaining and using weapons, reviving NATO, and Ukraine's accession to the Alliance.
The Telegraph noted that the plan for ending the war in Ukraine that Trump chooses will likely depend on the members of his cabinet. In particular, Trump's Secretary of State during his first term, Mike Pompeo, who may lead the Pentagon, criticized President Joe Biden's administration for insufficient support for Ukraine. The publication pointed out that Pompeo would not support an agreement that would be advantageous to Russia.
At the same time, Nikki Haley was attempting to become the Republican presidential candidate. She advocated for continued support for Ukraine in its war against Russia and stated the need to remind the American people that Putin is not someone to be trusted.
