The Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, wants to meet with Vladimir Zelensky at the economic forum in Davos. This idea has been met with skepticism in Kyiv.
Dmitry Litvin, an advisor to the President of Ukraine on communications, wrote on platform X that Zelensky has already commented on the Slovak Prime Minister's proposal in an interview with Bloomberg News that has yet to be published.
According to Litvin, Zelensky stated that he cannot make any plans regarding Robert Fico, as he "might go to Davos but end up somewhere in Sochi."
"We don’t know who is buying him tickets, as he frequently misses his destinations," Litvin quotes Zelensky.
Dispute between Zelensky and Fico: What you should know
As reported by UNIAN, due to Ukraine's reluctance to extend the contract for the transit of Russian gas, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico began a campaign of public criticism against Vladimir Zelensky.
At the end of December, he made a trip to Moscow and met with Vladimir Putin, which caused outrage not only in Ukraine but also in many EU countries.
Immediately after that, Fico seemed to disappear for several weeks but continued to record video messages criticizing Zelensky. Eventually, Slovak media discovered that Fico had spent over two weeks vacationing in an expensive hotel in Vietnam, occasionally recording these videos from his hotel room. Later, Zelensky mentioned this in one of his statements.
Recently, Fico publicly invited Zelensky to negotiations in Slovakia via a video address on Facebook, rather than through diplomatic channels.
In response, Zelensky also suggested on social media that Fico come to Kyiv "on Friday."
Today, Fico released a new statement expressing hope to meet Zelensky at the economic forum in Davos in the coming days.
