All participants of the European leaders' summit, which took place today in the United Kingdom, are eager to achieve a reliable conclusion to the war in Ukraine.
French President Emmanuel Macron shared this in a post on the microblogging platform X, along with a photo from the meeting. "At the negotiating table in London, we are all determined to take action to establish a stable and lasting peace in Ukraine and ensure our collective security," he stated.
In an interview with the newspaper Le Figaro, the French leader mentioned that Paris and London are proposing a month-long ceasefire in Ukraine, which would be enforced "in the air, at sea, and in energy."
The Summit in London
As is well-known, the summit of European leaders took place in London on March 2, focusing on the discussion of the situation in Ukraine and European security issues. Leaders of European states, the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance, and other high-ranking officials participated in the event.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed his desire to gather a "coalition of willing" to ensure the implementation of any peace agreement regarding Ukraine.
The participants agreed to continue supporting Ukraine and to increase economic pressure on the Russian Federation.
